GENEROSITY

GENEROUSLY GIVING

“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”  1 Chronicles 16:29

This past year has been an amazing year of ministry at Shiloh UMC.  We celebrated our rich history during our 210th Anniversary while also preparing the way for our future by participating in mission trips, expanding our community outreach and renovating our Gathering Area and Worship Center. This coming year will also be important in Shiloh’s history, with new renovations, new people and new opportunities! We anticipate continued growth to Shiloh, and our hope is their lives will be transformed as they become followers of Christ and begin serving him as a part of our congregation.

This will require each of us to step up our commitments to worship, grow, serve, share and give. As we prepare to have an impact in 2018, we’re asking each of you to make an annual financial commitment to our Ongoing campaign and step up in your giving as a percent of your income. In addition, we invite those who are living in abundance to invest in our Unfinished campaign as we renovate our facilities, update our equipment, restore our historic chapel and retire the debt on the Seibert parsonage.

ONGOING

Your gift to Ongoing will support the 2018 General Fund, which supports the operation, ministries and missions of Shiloh. The General Fund meets the needs and touches the lives of every member and non-member at Shiloh.

UNFINISHED

Unfinished is a special capital campaign with a goal of raising $50,000 by April 1, 2018.  Funds raised from now through April 1 designated to Unfinished will be earmarked for three vital areas in our church. First, we will update and renovate. Our downstairs ministry areas will be updated to allow the nursery, children and youth to continue their successful outreach to the community while we also update worship equipment. Second, vital one-time repairs to our historic chapel and modern facilities will be funded. Third, we will retire the remaining debt on the Seibert parsonage, which will allow us to invest an additional $490 per month into future ministries or accelerate the reduction of our remaining debt.

"Over the years, we have committed our resources to God,

and God has blessed and used them to change lives,

transform communities and renew the church."

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We would like to challenge you to be a part of our Unfinished campaign while keeping your Ongoing giving strong. We would like for your generosity to first be directed to our 2018 annual ministry needs. If you have reached a tithe and would like to give out of abundance, we encourage you to invest in Unfinished. Examples of ways you could invest in Unfinished include giving a 13th month in 2017 or you could consider donating any bonuses or tax returns to the campaign. Maybe you are working toward a tithe and want to try tithing during lent and your additional giving could be directed to Unfinished. No matter how you give, we appreciate your prayerful  consideration into investing in Ongoing and Unfinished that will help us make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

STEP UP IN 2018

STEP 1

BEGIN WITH PRAYER

Thank God for blessing you and ask for guidance and discernment.

STEP 2

ASSESS YOUR INCOME AND GIVING

Take a look at your annual income and your current giving as a percentage of your income. Examples are in the monthly percentage giving chart below.

STEP 3

STEP UP YOUR COMMITMENT

Use the chart to the right to help you determine how you can step up in 2018 when you complete your Commitment Card.

STEP 4

DECIDE HOW YOU WILL GIVE

Take a look at the “Ways to Give” and select the option that is best for both you and the church.

STEP 5

COMPLETE YOUR COMMITMENT CARD

Your annual giving commitment helps your church plan ministry in 2018. Please return a card, even if you can only make a limited financial commitment at this time. You can always increase or decrease your commitment if your situation changes by calling the Church Office.

STEP 6

WORSHIP WITH GRATITUDE

We present our commitments to God during worship. This is an opportunity as a congregation to express our gratitude to God and renew our commitment to being God’s stewards in the world.
